City Manager responds to feedback about Steubenville's new trash system
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —
It was a full house at the Steubenville City Council meeting on Tuesday night following the roll out of new trash cans for the city.
City Manager James Mavromatis addressed the crowd tonight answering many of the questions him and other city council members have received on the new system.
The most concerns coming from the elderly residents not wanting to have to deal with such a large can. Mavromatis says if those individuals call and request a smaller one that need will be met and if it is still an issue they can deal with every concern individually.
Mavromatis also urges people to consider times where they may have a heavier trash load like the holidays and says this system has been vastly successful in many other cities.
“These are growing pains of a new system but I can tell you this, every city that has gone to this I’ve had the chance to show a lot of citizens video tapes how easy this is and how quick this is and that’s what this is all about," says Mavromatis.
There is also a dumpster available for larger items that will not fit in the cans that is located at the maintenance garage.
If residents have any additional questions or concerns about the trash cans they are encouraged to call the city building.
