Investigators suspect murder-suicide in Wells Township

Investigators believe they found a murder-suicide inside a Wells Township home on Friday morning (WTOV).

Emergency responders received a call early Friday morning from a Wells Township woman saying a man in her home had a head injury.

What they found when they arrived on scene proved to be of much greater significance. Two people inside the home were dead.

Now investigators are calling it a murder suicide.

It took place just before 6 o'clock Friday morning. Jefferson county 911 received a call from a woman reporting a bathroom accident.

Deputies believe what they found was intentional.

"Sometimes they look simple, and sometimes you don't know what you're going to get into," Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said. "A call came in approximately 5:41 this morning to 911 from a female stating that a gentleman had fallen in a bathroom and had an injury to his head. All she had said was he had fallen and has an injury to his head. She didn't say anything about shooting him."

Abdalla said they learned of that twist the moment they arrived on scene.

"And sure enough there was an individual on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head," Abdalla said.

But that's not all. They also found the woman they believe made the 911 call. They also believe she shot her husband -- and then herself.

Abdalla said they still have a lot to sort through to figure out exactly what happened, and possibly why.
